Hero Kills Man Who Was Trying to Drown 3-Month-Old Twin Babies In Bathtub

An Oklahoma man who was trying to drown his three-month-old twins in a bathtub was fatally shot by a neighbor.

NBC News reports that Leland Foster, 27, showed up at a home where his estranged wife, identified as Michelle Forrells, was staying with their twins.

Foster reportedly pulled Forrells and their children into a bathroom and started trying to drown the children — while holding Forrells at knifepoint. A 12-year-old girl also living in the house ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

The neighbor, Cash Freeman, rushed over to the home to find Foster trying to drown the 3-month-old twins, a boy and a girl, in the bathtub, KFOR reports.

He then shot Foster twice in the back with a gun.

Freeman spoke with KFOR off camera and said when he saw what was happening in the bathroom, he did what he had to do to save the babies. He added that he is concerned that he could be in trouble for the shooting, however.

Another neighbor, Summer Pierce, said Freeman’s actions were justified:

“I think he did the right thing because who knows what would happen, because who knows what would have happened to the babies if he hadn’t intervened. They might not have made it.”

Freeman was questioned by police and later released. Investigators will decide whether Freeman will face charges for killing Foster.

The babies were taken to Mercy Hospital in Ada, and then flown to an Oklahoma City hospital. They have been released and are doing fine, reports KXII.

Foster has a history of violence. In 2011, he was charged with domestic abuse by strangulation and arson in the first degree. He pleaded no contest.
