Chicago, one of the nation’s gun control strongholds, saw over 100 people shot on the weekend many celebrated their “freedom.” And while this seems obvious, Chicago continues to prove the ineffectiveness of any gun laws and government intervention which are the antitheses of freedom.
At least 101 people were shot between Friday afternoon and early Wednesday, nearly half of them over 12 hours as the long holiday drew to a close. Fifteen of the wounded died.
The violence this year was largely confined to the South and West sides, including districts where the department has installed what it calls strategic support centers and predictive technology. Hundreds of officers on overtime were also deployed to those districts.
The youngest person shot over the weekend was a 13-year-old boy seriously wounded in Gage Park on Friday night. The oldest person shot was a 60-year-old man in the Lawndale neighborhood. –Chicago Tribune
The weekend had been relatively calm, according to the Chicago Tribune, by early Tuesday afternoon when police Superintendent Eddie Johnson announced the arrests of 58 people on drug and gun charges “to keep residents and visitors safe in every neighborhood.” But within hours, violence erupted in nearly every police district south of North Avenue, according to data kept by the Tribune.

Because of the failures of government at all levels in Chicago and the state of Illinois, people are suffering and dying. Yet, most won’t turn away from their desires to worship the government at all costs, and instead, double down on the very policies which promote and creates these kinds of outcomes.
One look at the dire state Illinois has gotten itself in should be evidence enough that the government and the communist policies it promotes do not work.
